9th month of pregnancy: the final month, baby is coming at last!

Can you believe it? Here you are in the 9th month of your pregnancy! Each pregnancy is a miracle of life, each birth is a promise and a unique event… you’re going to become a mum. Congratulations and welcome to your baby!

It’s baby who will decide!

Your unborn child is now ready: on the first day of this 9th month, 253 days have passed since the start of your pregnancy.

From the outset, your baby and you have constructed exchanges through the placenta, this amazing temporary organ made only for the grand occasion of your pregnancy. It now weighs around 500 grams, is 3 or 4 cm thick and has a diameter of around 20 centimetres1.

In terms of weight, your uterus oscillates on average between 1.2 kg and 1.5 kg1. In the middle of the incredible mechanics of your body, your unborn child is nice and comfortable, but will soon feel the urge to go elsewhere.

And as the big day approaches, all of their organs are working, and they produce a little bit of urine every hour.

You are awaiting their arrival, but it is they who will decide when they want to come into the world…

You’re going to be a mum!

The big day will arrive and, depending on your personal choices and your family traditions, you will bring your baby into the world: he or she will be the most beautiful baby in the world!

All the energy you have put into conceiving this magnificent child has now brought you to your role as a mother. Your arms will be the best place in the world for them, your skin their greatest comfort, your chest the extraordinary food source.

A new and fantastic adventure is about to begin, be proud of yourself, of what you have accomplished and everything you will accomplish with and for your child: welcome to your new life as a mum, well done and congratulations!

WHO recommends breastfeeding exclusively for the first 6 months and then continuation thereof until the age of 2 alongside the introduction, from 6 months, of safe and appropriate complementary foods.
